Twiggy art for craft arvo

I love twigs. They are a great resource to make art from that's free, organic, smooth and green! That's me in a nutshell! Well, maybe except the free part ;)

So come along to the next craft arvo and wrap twine and pretty fabric around a twig. Or if you have another twiggy ideas, bring them along too.

I will add some pics from last months craft arvo. We made some lovely polymer clay rings and necklaces.

Can't wait to "twig" with you! Oh and how is a lonely twig like a piece of cling wrap? He can only stick to himself.

Magic sand is the best sand

Who would have thought playing with sand could be this much fun. And as it turns out, it's not even sand! Flour and baby oil is all you need for your youngens (or young at heart) to have a ball for hours! Follow the simple steps below and your kids will prefer to play with sand over watching TV, hands down.

Instructions
Mix eight parts plain flour with one part baby oil. Mix together with your hands until combined. And that's it!
Insert: smiley faced children :)

DIY your space for you!

When faced with the challenge to find a TV cabinet within a modest price range that looked good, I must say I couldn't accept cheap and ugly, so goodbye Ikea and SuperAmart. My hunt lead me to gumtree where I found this beautiful antique faux white timber laminex dresser for $30!
Sourcing my "sweet pea" green paint for the main structure from my local hardware store and visiting the veneer guy down the road for all the timber trims, this one of a kind retro tv cabinet came in under $130!

So be encouraged! Try some DIY furniture. There are so many local businesses around you that can offer their services. Enjoy the space you live in. Make it personal and pretty TO YOU. Go get 'em!

Home is where the heart is....

What better way to spend a rainy afternoon than eating yummy food and crafting up a storm? We had lots of fun making these homes from balsa wood. And I'm proud to say that no huffing and puffing will blow this house down. If you would like to have a go at this simple and funky sculpture, grab a friend and a few crafting ingredients and have go!

_________________________________________________________________

CRAFTING INGREDIENTS
-balsa wood (or thin light twigs)
-craft glue and PVA glue#
-spray paint
EXTRA TOPPINGS
-bright twine, paint pens and scissors

STEPS
1. Make a square from four pieces of balsa wood. Glue with Craft and PVA glue#
2. Make two of these.
3. With another piece of the balsa, glue the two squares of balsa to begin the cube shape.
4. Continue another three times to make a cube.
5. Allow to dry a few minutes before making the roof.
6. Apply glue to two corners of the cube and add two pieces of balsa to make the triangle roof shape (see pic of roof detail below).
7. Hold until craft glue sets.
8. Make the other triangle roof and add the last piece on the top to bridge the two triangles together to finish the roof.
9. Let it dry
10. Spray with paint.
11. Once dry, I wrapped the fluro twine around sections and added patterns with paint pens.

#Craft glue is tacky (in the sticky sense, not in the daggy sense) and PVA glue is a stronger long term glue. Together they can glue anything!

Lets Craft It!

I’m not sure if you guys get this feeling. It’s like a bug. No not a bug. More like a virus where your body feels overwhelmed and nothing feels comfortable. That’s it ladies and gents. I've got the creative virus. And I’m not afraid to share it.

My creative virus will be here to share in a crafty arvo at my place on the last Sunday afternoon of March from 3pm and you mustn't go home until you feel invigorated and way cool. So bring along whatever you are knitting, molding, looming or rendering and we share our ideas, a beverage and some yum yum treats. Let’s do it. Send me an email, text or poke me when you next see me to let me know you’re coming. I promise I will poke you back!

Ps if you don’t have any projects on the go, I can get your fingers busy with making your own cute diamond scroll (see pretty pic above).
